Blogs are a great way to create an open forum on a specific topic or range of topics.

This is my first experience to use a blog. I read blogs before but never wrote a comment.

You're right - input from massive sources is quite valuable.

I want to blog to share ideas with a workgroup, disseminate information about events, and solicit feedback and new ideas. The intended audience is UCSD staff members part of the workgroup. All workgroup members will be able to contribute. The communication will be two-way.

I want a blog to network with other young professionals, publicize department-wide events for the Millennial Workgroup I am helping out with, and to share/keep up with news that pertain to my personal and career interests. The intended audience would be young professionals within my department (Health Sciences); probably participants in the Millennial workgroup. Everyone will be able to contribute - whether it is through comments or posts. Therefore, I think that it would definitely be a 2-way blog.

I want a blog to collect as much spam as possible. Not really! Someone in my department is thinking of starting one. I already installed wordpress on my own domain but there's a lot that I don't know how to do. And a few weeks ago, I deleted my entire blog because I didn't want potential employers to read it. I hadn't been posting in months anyway.
